With all the craziness lately surrounding high school sports on the radio, let me say this.....
Oldies 1350 AM WPDR is your official home for Portage Warrior sports. If there is a game, you will find it there. Keep it in mind and tell you friends.
Also, new this year - Badger Sports on 1350 AM WPDR. Football, basketball, hockey. Unless you have satellite, this is the only place you can catch the Badgers locally.
Local sports and Badger sports.....you will find both on our sister station AM 1350 WPDR!

Tomorrow, I will golf for the first time in several years and not just for the heck of it...in a tournament! Fun, but not pretty. That will be the best way to describe it.

TEN THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT MOSQUITOES:
As promised...
#1.) The world's largest mosquito statue is in Komarno, Manitoba, Canada. . . which calls itself the Mosquito Capital of Canada. It was made in 1984, it's steel and its wingspan is 15 feet.
#2.) The phrase "mosquito bite" is a malapropism. . . mosquitoes never bite, they only suck.
#3.) It would take 1.2 million mosquitoes, sucking simultaneously, to drain all of your blood.
#4.) Mosquitoes have chemical signal in their brain that tells them when they're full of blood. If that signal isn't working, they'll keep sucking until they EXPLODE.
#5.) The buzzing sound that mosquitoes make is actually their MATING CALL.
#6.) Mosquitoes can mate in MID-AIR. . . and usually go from start to finish in 15 seconds.
#7.) Millions of years ago, mosquitoes were three times chubbier than they are today.
#8.) Mosquitoes are slow. . . they can only go 1.5 miles per hour.
#9.) Mosquitoes can pass a lot of diseases from human-to-human. . . including malaria, yellow fever and West Nile virus. . . but HIV isn't one of them. Their digestive system kills off any HIV-infected blood particles.
#10.) Only female mosquitoes suck blood, to get protein to make eggs. Male mosquitoes are actually vegetarians who live on nectar and plant juices. (Discover Magazine)

First Post
Hey friends,
It's me, Bryan Dymes. This is my first post, not my first blog. I've done it for several years, just not on Blogger. I figured this would be a good way to "go behind the scenes" here in Tri-County radio world. I also like to share my opinions, but never get enough time. Plus, you want to hear music, so I will oblige and put my opinions here, not there (radio).
Really, all I have right now is thanks for listening. We do our best to play the hottest country music and hook you up with the greatest prizes. Make sure you come see us at Captain Ron's in Pardeeville on Wednesday, May 2. We'll be there from 11 am to 1 pm. It's your first chance to get registered for the John Deere 102 lawn tractor, plus Captain Ron's food is really darn good. See you there?
Also, visit our real website....www.thunder100fm.com. We're still working on it, but you can get registered to be a ThunderVIP right now. Well there ya go, the first Thunder Country post. I'll write more later and let you know what's up. Check back often!
