Golf

Tomorrow, I will golf for the first time in several years and not just for the heck of it...in a tournament! Fun, but not pretty. That will be the best way to describe it.

TEN THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT MOSQUITOES:

As promised...

#1.) The world's largest mosquito statue is in Komarno, Manitoba, Canada. . . which calls itself the Mosquito Capital of Canada. It was made in 1984, it's steel and its wingspan is 15 feet.

#2.) The phrase "mosquito bite" is a malapropism. . . mosquitoes never bite, they only suck.

#3.) It would take 1.2 million mosquitoes, sucking simultaneously, to drain all of your blood.

#4.) Mosquitoes have chemical signal in their brain that tells them when they're full of blood. If that signal isn't working, they'll keep sucking until they EXPLODE.

#5.) The buzzing sound that mosquitoes make is actually their MATING CALL.

#6.) Mosquitoes can mate in MID-AIR. . . and usually go from start to finish in 15 seconds.

#7.) Millions of years ago, mosquitoes were three times chubbier than they are today.

#8.) Mosquitoes are slow. . . they can only go 1.5 miles per hour.

#9.) Mosquitoes can pass a lot of diseases from human-to-human. . . including malaria, yellow fever and West Nile virus. . . but HIV isn't one of them. Their digestive system kills off any HIV-infected blood particles.

#10.) Only female mosquitoes suck blood, to get protein to make eggs. Male mosquitoes are actually vegetarians who live on nectar and plant juices. (Discover Magazine)
